You know we always hear people saying that it’s not all about the money and when you think about it, the only people saying those things are the ones who don’t have to worry about it. They’re the people who know not only where their next meal is coming from but most probably where and when their next music player or phone or car is too.
I was talking to someone the other day and was left feeling miserable. This girl is the sole breadwinner of her rather large family. She works three jobs to make ends meet. She leaves the house at 5.30 in the morning and gets home only after 10 in the dark of the night and trust you me, there isn’t a soul who is more cheerful than she is! A couple of days ago, her only pair of shoes got ruined. They couldn’t be fixed by the local cobbler and she can’t afford new ones. She goes to work everyday with tattered shoes…like I said…the conversation ended with me feeling miserable…To think those tiny pieces of metal and more often than not, dirty bits of paper could be responsible for her situation!
I’ve just realized that it is almost always completely about the money…ABBA sure had it right (even though they were rolling in money…) “Money money money…must be funny…in a rich man’s world…”
